Beer Margarita

Yes, it's hot. Yes, it's humid. Yes, it's July. I'm truly blessed to have air conditioning in my home, my car and my office. But, hot, humid summer deserves a delicious cocktail, don't you think!! This one hits the spot. It's so refreshing. I filled a tall glass with ice and then poured this yummy treat in, topped it with a lime and enjoyed my evening. Indoors, because it's hot outside!!!

Beer Margarita
1 bottle of beer (Corona is my choice)
1/2 can of frozen limeade
6 oz. vodka
6 oz. water

Mix together, pour over ice and enjoy! This makes four servings - plenty to share!

I didn't even think to take a picture. I was enjoying too much!

And yes, I did find this on Pinterest... I told you I'm addicted!

Pinterest

So, I'm addicted. Yep, it's official. Pinterest has me hooked. In the evening my husband will see me on the computer and now say, "are you pinning?" Yep, I'm pinning. Are you pinning? If so, let's follow each other!

Happy Fourth of July!

We will be celebrating the 4th tomorrow with friends for a cookout at their house, fireworks and then a fire and smores at our house after. I am in charge of dessert and jello shots!

I found strawberry daquari, margarita and pina colda jello... perfect for shots! Then I hollowed out lemons and limes and put the jello in the rind. I cut them into sections and they are stinkin' cute!!

I'll tell you that I'm addicted to Pinterest... that is where I saw the jello idea. Also, all over the blogs are cake balls and cake pops. So, here is my attempt!

First bake a cake. I chose Red Velvet (for the the July 4th holiday) and cream cheese frosting. I used a box mix and canned frosting. You could very easily use from scratch and any flavor that you love.

Let the cake cool almost completely. Then crumble it all up in a big bowl.

Add the frosting. I didn't use the whole can. There doesn't seem to be a science to this! Just add a little more than 1/2 the can and stir... continue until you get a good consistency to roll balls.

Roll the balls. I used my small cookie scoop and then rolled. Place them on wax paper and put them in the freezer for while. They need to be firm when you dip them.

When you are ready to make the pops, melt almond bark in the microwave. I dipped the stick in the melted bark first and then into the ball. This is like glue! That ball isn't going anywhere. Dip the balls into the bark and put sprinkles on the top.

Now, here is where a piece of styrofoam would come in handy. I didn't have styrofoam, so I stood in my kitchen trying to figure out how I was going to let these dry. My solution was to stick the pop into a few slices of bread! Silly, yes. But, guess what... it worked!!!
Who knew I was so resourceful!!

I made several as pops and several as balls. Of course I had to taste test. A good baker would never serve something that wasn't yummy and tasted, right?

I put the pops in a clear glass with red marbles to hold the sticks. I wanted to use red, white and blue M&M's, but never got to the store to buy them. Here's my finished product. What do you think?

I love the way they turned out! These would be great for all holidays. Any flavor cake and frosting that you like and you can use white or chocolate almond bark. Adorable for a baby shower, wedding shower or birthday. A new favorite of mine!!

Enjoy your holiday and be safe!!

Today's DIY Project

I've had this window for several years...

At first I was going to put four scrapbook pages in each window and hang it over our bed. Then I thought I'd do wall words in each pane and again hang over our bed. I never did anything.

Then, I became addicted to the website Pinterest. Yes, addicted. That could be an entire post in itself. Anyway, I saw something perfect for me on Pinterest and perfect for my window. Today, the window became a jewelry holder.

First, hubby removed the glass for me. Then we roughed it up a little bit and cut
some yard cloth to size and stapled it to the back.

I hung it in the perfect spot between the two front windows in my bed room.

I used small open "S" hooks to hang my beaded jewelry.

Taa-Daa!!!

A close up.... yes, I made about 95% of this jewelery.
I filled the entire thing and I have a lot more beaded jewelery...
But, I'm thrilled with the results and it was a fun project for a rainy day!

Come out, come out wherever you are!

I've looked everywhere. I've looked high and low. I've searched inside and out.
I cannot find it anywhere.

I lost my mojo. My paper crafting mojo.

I want to scrapbook. I want to make cards. I do. I really want to.

I want to want to.

But I just can't get in the mood. I've searched blogs. I've browsed on-line stores. I've gone to Michaels and Hobby Lobby.
I even bought some paper and ink at a scrapbook store not too long ago.
Nothing has helped.

Where did it go? Why can't I find it?

Magazines don't help. My own scrapbooks don't get me motivated. My photos that are begging to be scrapped, are pushed aside.

What can I do to motivate?
Can you help me?
Any suggestions, I'll take them!

Help me find my paper crafting mojo... it's lost and cannot find it's way back!

Easter Dinner plans

The menu is:
Ham
Cheesy Potatoes
Fresh Green Beans
Fresh Hot Baked Bread
Deviled Eggs
Black Olives
Texas Sheet Cake

I've spent the afternoon in the kitchen, but I love it! I made mango salsa (possibly for tomorrow, most likely just for me to enjoy!), the Texas sheet cake, the hard boiled eggs and the cheesy potatoes. Allison colored the Easter Eggs, so some will go in a pretty basket in the center of the table. The rest will become deviled! Tomorrow I just have to let the bread dough rise, cut the green beans, devil the eggs, and put the ham in the oven. Easy dinner!! Yummy Dinner! My dad and Greg's dad will join us.

Tonight it's turkey burgers on the grill. And I think a few bites of that Texas Sheet Cake. It would be WRONG of me to serve it not knowing if it's suitable for the grandpa's.
Right?
Yes, I thought so!

Have a blessed Easter...

Western Michigan University

So, I have a real job. I work at WMU in the Food Marketing Office. I am the Office Associate. The biggest part of my job is planning the Food Marketing Conference which is held every year in March. This year was the biggest ever. We had over 500 guests. It's like planning a HUGE wedding every year! It's actually really fun and exciting and extremely rewarding. I do really like my job. I thought I'd share a few photos from the this year's conference...

My boss before the conference as we are running crazy and freaking out!

This is the main ballroom at the Radisson Plaza Hotel.

My two wonderful registration beauties. I couldn't have done this without them!
Julianne and Kim ... they rock!!

Yummmmmmm..... shrimp! And my cool ice sculpture!

My two Most Favorite Food Marketing Majors... Nate and Brock. They are going to graduate in a couple of weeks. I'm so excited for their futures, but I'm so sad to see them leave! I will miss them so much!

Frank presented me with my "beauty queen bouquet"! Every year he gives me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. This year it was a dozen yellow roses. They were so gorgeous and I enjoyed them for over a week.

This year I was so sick during the entire conference! What a drag! I had a stomach bug that lasted almost a week. I have no idea how I did it, but I pulled it off!!! I'm glad it's over. But, of course, we are already planning 2012!

Hello Gorgeous...

...I've been waiting for you. All winter long.

Beautiful warm sunny day!

It was 84 degrees in Michigan today! Sunny and amazing! It won't last - tomorrow is supposed to be 45 degrees and it could *snow* on Sunday. But, today it was amazing and we enjoyed every second of it!

Happy Spring!!

Sharing

So, here I go again! It's been three months. My job is insane from December through March. Plus I'm selling Thirty One and lets not forget that family of mine! So, something had to go (and it's not my favorite TV shows) so, it had to be the blog. Let's see if I can do better throughout the spring and summer months!

I'm sharing my new beautiful baubles that I made last weekend. I can't take all the credit of course! This tutorial:

http://makebraceletsblog.com/2011/01/12/beaded-wrap-bracelet-video-tutorial/

was amazing! I couldn't figure out how to make these awesome wrapped bracelets until I watched this. So, here are my results!

While browsing Tracy's site, I then found a tutorial for this little pretty:

And of course, I needed a necklace to go with the beautiful sparkly black bracelet. So I can up with this with the left over beads.

Ooooo so pretty!!!

And the fun buttons that these bracelets take... now I'm on a button hunt! But, I'm pretty cheap. Not too interested in paying $2 or $3 for one button. So, guess what I found? Three awesome buttons on a card for $1.50 - $1.75 at Walmart. While making these bracelets, I looked at this pretty button and knew it was destined to be a ring!

My co-worker said it looked like a big diamond ring! Yay for that!

So, please tell me what you think? I'm so in love with these pretties!! Now, watch Tracy's video and go bead!!!
